Giving a voice to the Blue Economy

Blue Media

Blue Media is a media, publishing and event company founded in 2024 and part of the MSC Group, a global leader in transportation and logistics.

Based in Genoa, Blue Media operates in communication and knowledge-sharing related to the Blue Economy through the editorial ecosystem blueconomy.com, the digital platform dedicated to port-related and marittime topics, which represents the core of the Group’s specialistic information offering.

This digital presence is complemented by the Group’s flagship newspaper, Il Secolo XIX, historic voice of Italian journalism since 1886, which also features a dedicated Blue Economy section, extending in print the in-depth coverage already developed online.

Blue Media also manages other specialised maritime publications — The MediTelegraph, L’Avvisatore Marittimo and TTM — helping to cover the entire information landscape of the maritime economy.

Our mission

The Blue Economy Project

The Project

Blueconomy.com was created to promote the sea as a strategic resource and a space for innovation, culture and dialogue.
The project connects knowledge, experience and relationships around the key issues shaping the present and future of the maritime sector.

Why was it created?

The project was created in response to the need to:

  • Give a voice to a sector that today accounts for over 10% of the national GDP;
  • Foster dialogue between companies, institutions, research centres and stakeholders;
  • Promote success stories, innovation and sustainability
  • Create a permanent hub for discussion and growth across the entire Blue Economy.

Key Elements of the Project

Blue Economy Hub

The Blue Economy Hub (blueconomy.com) is a bilingual digital platform that brings together news, in-depth features and content on the sea, business, research, tourism and energy. It is a digital space for exchange and inspiration for professionals, researchers, investors and sea enthusiasts.

The Blue Economy Magazine, the weekly supplement of Il Secolo XIX, represents its print edition: eight pages every Monday dedicated to sustainability, innovation and the economy of the future, featuring interviews, analysis and in-depth reporting on the trends and opportunities of a rapidly growing sector.

Blue Economy Events

A calendar of events designed to bring together experts, institutions and companies, promoting research, innovation and collaboration as key drivers of growth for the sector.

Among the flagship initiatives is BEST – Blue Economy Summit & Trade Show, to be held from 16 to 19 November 2026 in Genoa. The event represents the leading biennial international meeting point for Blue Economy professionals, companies and stakeholders in Italy, with future editions also planned abroad.

Events

From the Roadshow to BEST
Blue Economy Summit & Trade Show

“We create experiences, not just events: forums, conferences and networking opportunities where companies, institutions and professionals come together to shape the future of the sector.”

Since May 2025, the Roadshow has been bringing the Blue Economy to Italy’s main ports through monthly stops.
Each event provides an opportunity for dialogue among operators, institutions and local stakeholders, showcasing projects and experiences linked to the specific characteristics of each territory and their national relevance.

The journey reaches its peak with BEST, the international Blue Economy trade fair, taking place from 16 to 19 November 2026 at the Blue Pavilion – Jean Nouvel in Genoa. A landmark biennial event where professionals, businesses and institutions come together to shape the future of the maritime sector.
