The Blue Economy Roadshow stopped in the city of Catania, at the “Civica e A. Ursino Recupero” Library Complex.
The meeting highlighted the strategic centrality of the ports of Eastern Sicily within the Mediterranean and emphasised the importance of infrastructure planning aligned with the new dynamics of international trade and maritime traffic.
During the debate, the need to strengthen integration between the port system, inland terminals (dry ports), and the land-based logistics network clearly emerged, together with a concrete commitment to environmental sustainability and energy innovation. Ports were described as increasingly multifunctional hubs, capable of combining commercial traffic, tourism, and cruise activities.
Particular attention was also devoted to investment attractiveness, with a focus on administrative simplification, regulatory certainty, and public–private cooperation. In this framework, the Blue Economy was recognised as a strategic driver of development, capable of generating growth, skilled employment, and new opportunities for the region.
